BEING A PROJECT ENGINEER FOR A NEW PRODUCTION FACILITY

A Nalys project manager specialised in production, is in charge of managing the implementation of a new production facility for one of our customers. His mission: to insure the construction of a new paint shop for a major player in the transportation industry (100 M€). A strategic project that offers many challenges, including a non-compressible two-year deadline. From the whole organisation to the details of the equipment qualification and the production preparation, let’s have a quick look on what it looks like to build such a building from scratch!

The mission scope

To fulfil his mission, the Nalys project leader has to insure and coordinate the engineering, installing and commissioning of the manual repair processes. He is also in charge of the definition of the standard workplace equipment & the coordination of the sprinkler installation & steel construction.

Mission accomplished! The project was delivered on time and the quality standards were reached.

Respect of planning – a challenging point regarding the project complexity.

Performance-based KPI – by providing enough repair capacity (agreed upon KPIs) and a 97,5 machine availability.

High quality standards – with a maximum of 1% technical malfunctions

New best practices – through the definition of new standards for the design of manual workplaces

The hardest task in project management is trying to combine elements of traditional and agile approaches to project management. Flexibility, reactiveness and communication are key to success. The support Nalys provides to its consultants empowers them to cope with these challenges. The experience gained during this 2-year project will help me during my career evolution and it gives me the chance to share this knowledge and expertise to others inside the company to ensure the level of knowledge for current and future colleagues
